On behalf of the National Board of Directors and Regional Governors of Pi Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc., it is with great pleasure that Pi Alpha Phi announces that our chapter at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) has received full chapter status and will henceforth be designated as “Rho” Chapter.
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, UNCC Chapter’s journey to brotherhood began in the Fall of 2012 under the leadership of Nu Chapter alumni, Tai Nguyen and Jimmy Nguyen; which culminated with the crossing of 13 charter class members on January 19, 2013.
Once established, UNCC began building a reputation within the Asian American community; as well the Diversified Greek Council and the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
Since then, the chapter has embodied all of the fraternity’s pillars by hosting cultural events and workshops, volunteering for the Asian American community through community hosted events, attending regional and national leadership conferences and participating in Pi Alpha Phi activities such as AFLV East Region, National Convention, Mu Chapter and Nu Chapters’ 10 year anniversary, and most recently, the Drexel University colonization.
Additionally, UNCC chapter holds a strong reputation of leadership and has won various awards from their Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life including the Director’s Award and Fraternity of the Year.
The newly recognized full chapter, Rho Chapter’s future looks promising and they will continue to strive to promote the fraternity as one of the elite fraternities on their campus and in the country.
